Alex Aliyo
Extension Officer
Alex is a resourceful person with vast experience in passion fruit farming and nursery bed management. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Mountains of the Moon University. In his two years at KadAfrica, Alex has successfully managed outgrowers and passion fruit transplant raising. He enjoys facing new challenges and sharing experiences with farmers
Ali Tabi
Marketing and Procurement Manager
Ali joined KadAfrica after spending his formative years working in different trade companies in Fort Portal and Kamwenge districts. In the past two years he has successfully managed to explore and expand the market for KadAfrica’s produce not only among the region, but also throughout the country, and soon to international markets. Previously, he served as a volunteer in the Uganda Red Cross and also worked for the Uganda Police Force. He plays an active role in community engagement in his work at KadAfrica. Ali has an Advanced Certificate in Building and Construction and is passionate about advancing innovative trend-conscious initiatives.
Bob Kasaija
Site Manager
Bob was born in Kyenjojo. He worked as a teacher in Biology and Agriculture in Katooke Modern Secondary School, as well as with NAADS Katooke Town Council, and as a parish supervisor with the Electoral Commission. He enjoys mentoring the girls in agricultural practices and seeing their success in their passion fruit farms.
Charles Musana
Unit Operator
Charles joined KadAfrica in 2016. He is a unit operator and ensures KadAfrica produces high-quality, healthy passion fruit seedlings. He has in the past worked as a site manager, nursing and training one of the girl sites on quality passion fruit management. He enjoys running and cycling in his free time. Charles is inspired by helping people in his work and supporting the local community.
Christine Kamuli
Admin and Accounts Associate
Christine has a strong passion for economic development especially for the girl child and women. She brings to KadAfrica her experience in financial accounting and financial literacy, having previously worked with Rwenzori Commodities Limited, The Toro and Mityana Tea Company (TAMTECO) and Mountains of the Moon University in Partnership with GIZ Research Project where she carried out research Surveys on Financial Literacy. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Development Finance from Mountains of the Moon University and is currently a student at the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).
There are many things she likes to do, see, and experience, but mostly she loves reading and travelling.
Christine Kanyunyuzi
Senior Cluster Coach
Christine Kanyunyuzi Atwiine, has a Bachelor’s degree in Microfinance from Kyambogo University and is now pursuing a postgraduate diploma course in Project Planning and Management at Uganda Management Institute Kampala.
She has worked with a number of institutions including, Pride Microfinance as a loans officer, Friends Consult as a research assistant, and IPSOS Uganda. In 2015 she led a group of about 10 youth to mobilize funds and start their own passion fruit farm in Kayunga district. Her passion is in working with disadvantaged people in communities, especially mothers. Because of this passion she has worked with KadAfrica since July 2015, been part of the team handling 18 groups of 30 girls to date. Her love for mothers and babies encouraged her to start Favour Baby Center in Kireka, Wakiso District in 2014, which is still in operation. She and other mothers in St. Stephen Church of Uganda, Rwengoma have also started catering services so that unemployed mothers can earn an income, and she spearheaded a group of single mothers in the launch of a piggery farm in Rwengoma.
She contributes experience in agriculture, group mobilization, sensitization, and management from her work with many groups with different dynamics.
Florence Kabege
Cluster Coach
Florence Kabege holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Statistics, and a certificate in Public Administration and Management.
She is a native of Kabarole district, Busoro village. She joined KadAfrica early this year as a Cluster Coach; she previously worked with Youth Line Forum an organization that works with young people to empower their communities. She is passionate about working with young people especially young women because she believes they hold the key to a progressive and healthy community.
Florence Kwikiriza
SILC Facilitator
Florence comes from Kabarole District, Kisongi village and holds a Certificate in Nursing. She previously worked in a pharmacy before joining KadAfrica in 2015. She worked with KadAfrica for 3 years as a facilitator of KadAfrica Experience sites. In recognition of her unmatched facilitation skills she was promoted to SILC Facilitator in August 2018. She also assists Cluster Coaches with teaching Life Skills and Savings curriculum. Florence is most passionate about working with young mothers, teaching them to save for themselves, to help their families, and become financially independent.
Hassan Ssenyonga
Farm Manager
Hassan is an agronomist and the Farm Manager at KadAfrica. Growing up in an area where the vegetation is threatened for subsistence farming, his greatest passion is improving food security and livelihoods for the disadvantaged local farmers through sustainable agriculture, nature conservation and efforts to increase biodiversity. He is also passionate about seeing organisms in their natural ecological niches and eager to learn and share his agronomic skills, such as soil analysis and transplant raising with farmers. He previously worked as an estate manager at Kakyomya Dairy Farms and Tea Estates Ltd. Hassan has a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Mountains of the Moon University in Fort Portal, Uganda. He likes traveling and listening to country music during his leisure time.
Ibrahim Mugisa
Unit Operator
Ibrahim joined KadAfrica in 2015. He is the lead processing unit manager in charge of managing the daily operations of KadAfrica’s processing unit. Previously, he led the quality management of the fruit, ensuring fruit was graded, sorted and packed to meet the requirements of various customers for 2 years. He enjoys playing football, watching movies, and is an avid golfer.
Joseph Katusabe Mulumba
Senior Site Manager
Joseph has seven years of experience working with girls in the KadAfrica Experience program. He holds a Diploma in Crop Production from Kyambogo University. Previously, Joseph managed a girls’ agro-investment project in partnership with KadAfrica, Caritas Uganda, and CRS with the aim of empowering girls and improving livelihoods. Joseph loves sharing his knowledge and experiences with KadAfrica girls in passion fruit farming.
Kenneth Kalyegira
Community Engagement Manager
Kenneth joined KadAfrica in 2018 as the liaison between KadAfrica, the immediate local community, and stakeholders. He leads recruitment of out-of-school girls, identifying potential local partners and fostering the relationship between KadAfrica and the community.
Kenneth previously worked with large-scale farmers growing hot pepper in Fort Portal and in evaluating suitability for project set-up at Iles de Paix. He has also worked with Protos Uganda and Tooro Botanical Gardens. Kenneth holds a Diploma in Business Management from Makerere University.
Maria Kjær
Business Development Manager
Maria Kjær joined KadAfrica in 2017 to lead our out of school girls through the KadAfrica Experience - our end-to-end business solution for girls to become less vulnerable and participate in their local economies. Maria has actively engaged in proving our concept that income generation, when coupled with soft skills empowerment training, leads to improved life choices and employability of young girls in Uganda. She is passionate about generating equal opportunities for women in business and create access to education and finance for them to engage in local businesses. Having played a key role in setting up our scalable girls’ program, she has entered into the role as business development specialist, to further develop the KadAfrica Experience. Through continuously learning and adapting our programming, she ensures that girls gain the skills, guidance, and courage they need to be independent entrepreneurs and community role models as we scale. She has seven years’ experience working with international development and integration of smallholders into agriculture value chains and is dedicated to keeping programming efficient and impactful. Having worked in South America and East Africa, she brings experience in program management, value chain development, and program monitoring. Maria holds a M.A. in Agricultural Development, from the University of Copenhagen.
Monica Ainebyona
Cluster Coach
Monica Ainebyona holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Community Development from Kyambogo University and a certificate in Administrative Law from Makerere University. She comes from Kyenjojo district in Nyakabara village and was previously working with Kind Initiative for Development of Uganda before joining KadAfrica. In this role she worked with youth and families to sensitize them about HIV/AIDS, and organized small youth groups to start income-generating activities. She is passionate about working with disadvantaged groups of people and educating them on how they can start up income-generating activities to make their lives better. She continues to develop her career as a social worker at KadAfrica.
Robert Amanyire
Site Manager
Robert comes from the Kyegegwa District in Uganda and holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Mountains of the Moon University. Most recently, he worked as a farm manager in Masindi District. Previously, he worked at Ruhengera Ranch and Mpanga Tea Estate. Robert is excited to expand his passion fruit management knowledge.
Wendy Akumu
Director of Operations
Wendy is enthusiastic about community development and girl mentorship. She joins the team with experience in financial accounting and providing business support services in a hands-on and
conscientious manner to generate sustainable outcomes. Previously, Wendy worked with Deloitte and Touché East Africa, AfricaManagement Solutions Ltd and Pathway Consult.
Wendy has a Bachelor’s in Economics and Statistics from the University of Nairobi and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from Strathmore University. She enjoys reading, travelling and making crafts in her free time.
